This is a joke, right? Right?

I have recently posted several stories about the desire of millennials wanting to become homebuyers. Then today I came across this video of a millennial's first day on the job. I laughed. Then I stopped. Then I wondered. Then I worried. You see when an underwriter reviews a file for loan review, "The Four C's" must be met:

  1. Capacity
  2. Credit
  3. Cash (or Capital)
  4. Collateral

Capacity is not just about AMOUNT of income to debt, but HISTORY of income (pattern) and LIKELIHOOD  of income to continue. So, when I watched this video, I immediately wondered how this "millennial attitude" could affect underwriting decisions! (Keep in mind, the recent employment vs 2 year history wouldn't be a problem if her education was in the same line as her work.) Click below:

Tell, me ... do you think the attitude reflected on this video is real? (Of course, the actual script for the video is written as a satire. But is the ATTITUDE real??)

Oh my goodness,  it HAS to be a joke Ruth.  I can't say that I know many " just graduated from college millenials"...but my nephews who are in college now know they have to show up on time for their jobs, for pete's sake. Well, she made me laugh- thanks for that!

Mary Douglas, we have a Millennial granddaughter, and like your nephews - she understands work ethic! (She has to... she works with us!) ha!

Oh, that is total attitude, Ruth!  Love the satire and honestly, I feel that there are many in younger generations that feel like that. I've got two who don't and many clients who don't either - I think parental upbringing has a LOT to do with it!

Debe Maxwell, CRS I agree. It makes you wonder where they get these ideas, huh?? I've hired 3 over the past 6 months that had the Millennial Attitude. I'm thinking maybe I should start interviewing the parents!! Haha!!

I saw this on Facebook, and it was/is confusing. Sometimes our young people need to attend the school of hard knocks before they "get it". I've seen extremely dedicated millenials with a strong work ethic; then I've also met a few who think everything should be handed to them. Just like our generation, eventually they will understand and do what is necessary.

Pat Starnes let's hope they "get it" before it's too late! As I near the Social Security age of receive SSI, the reference to "entitlement" just fries my butt... and to see/hear this "I deserve it" attitude without any contribution whatsoever, well.... let's just say I shudder to think what direction we will head then!

I feel the same about entitlement ~ we aren't entitled to anything. If you want it, go work for it!
