Blogging About Loans: Now THIS is how to set yourself apart from the competition!

Now THIS is how to set yourself apart from the competition!

"Ladies and Gentleman,

Please pay attention to the cabin crew who will demonstrate the safety features on this aircraft."

How many times have you heard that as your plane starts to depart? Do YOU ever pay attention to them, or are you just busy getting settled in and know you've heard it enough times to probably demonstrate the features yourself?

You MUST look at this video that gives a demonstration that certainly got the attention of every passenger on that plane!

Then after you watch the video, I hope you wonder what I wondered: how can I apply different techniques to our somewhat boring and definately overwhelming business to stand out from our competition! (Without the dancing, that is!)

It certainly is a unique presentation, but likely would not fly with American corporations. Too close to the border of promiscuity.

Hi Ruth, GREAT POST. Saw this on the news last night/this morning... Thought it was just terrific. I liked the way you applied to this post, definitely should give food for thought to many, I know it has for me...

Vickie, Interesting perspective as I thought of it as nothing more than high energy, great music and dancing???

Laura, The news, huh? Guess they liked it too! Thanks for getting my meaning to the post!

Hi Ruth - You don't think you would be able to come up with a good dance?! How about something along the line of a robot dance as it might be in "better taste"? : ) Fun post!

I thought you liked to dance. Ha ha! It's important that we make each interaction with our clients a unique experience that they will want to repeat.

Ruth, that is great.  It seems like we got a video the time that we flew, this is much better and entertaining!

Now that's a great way to get people to actually pay attention!

Ruth, I think I'll try dancing in front of my Open House today.  Disco or rock n roll?  What do you think?  LOL

Chris, So do you think the "DipDive" that was done for Oprah's anniversary last year would work? (Did you see that one? 20,000 people in Chicago all doing the same dance... it was amazing!!!)

Donna, Haven't been much for dancing since the hip incident... but might be getting close to the time to get that hip out of retirement????

Tony, The video of the safety features on my filight wasn't like this one either. I vote for something like this!!

Craig, Goes to show it's all about presentation!

Gail, Well, rock and roll usually needs a partner, so I think you better try disco! Don't hurt anything though!! Have a great open house party!!! And turn the music up LOUD!

Ruth - I like this approach - they still manage to communicate important safety information while holding the passengers' attention. I'll have to think about your question.

Jackie, Will you share your ideas for all of us? Oh... wait... then we wouldn't be setting ourselves apart from the competition would we? ha-ha! Thanks for stopping by!

It's good to study how other industries set themselves apart from their competition. Thank you for sharing this lively, energetic spin on a normally boring task.

Ruth,

I don't know I think the dancing would help with some of these homes to help them take their minds off the market.  Although I know my dancing is not going to do anything for them.

I think I heard of this before. I think it is breaking the pattern, although if they do it all the time eventually people will ignore it too. The key is to keep things fresh.

Larry, Buyers need to take notice of the homes that are available right now for practically "a song and a dance"... so, I guess you need to take a few voice lessons, too, to get that point across!

Ross, So true!

I agree with Ross. My concern is that as you wrote Ruth, our business can be overwhelming and to stay ahead of the next new approach can overwhelm the overwhelmed.  I hate to sound boring, because I definitely love to dance, but I wonder if continuing to build trust, solve problems, support clients with professionalism and sympathy is that old school. Maybe dancing in my office when I get off the phone when problems are dumped in my lap is a good start. In that way I can stand emotionally above the problems and give my clients a leg up.  I'll save the video! Thanks Ruth.

Cindy, Whenever we solve a problem at our office, you hear "doin' the dance"! Sometimes we really do! :)
